That morning, with an incoming tide, I stood on a rock, my camera steady on its tripod. The sea flowing in and out, its movements predictable—until, suddenly, a rogue wave surged higher than the rest. The cold water reached my thighs as I gripped my tripod, steadying both myself and the shot. The sky heavy with soft grey, the air still, and in that quiet moment, the ocean and I were as one.
